TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Seldner Environmental Services is pleased to offer the following Environmental Training Courses that meet regulatory requirements of Cal-OSHA, Title 8, Section 5192 and Fed-OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.120.
Anyone who is involved in working with hazardous materials or hazardous waste should complete an OSHA HAZWOPER class that complies with the regulations. |
| Classes can be scheduled at a location mutually agreeable to the client and instructor. Many classes are taught in-house to accommodate the company's requests. |
HAZWOPER 40 HOUR COURSE
This class is required for employees who handle hazardous waste and who respond to spills and waste clean up.

HAZWOPER 24-HOUR SUPERVISOR'S COURSE
This course is specifically designed for supervisors of employees who respond to hazardous waste spills and are responsible for cleanup.

HAZWOPER 8-HOUR REFRESHER COURSE
This is a mandatory annual refresher course for those employees who have completed either the 24-hour or the 40-hour HAZWOPER courses. Updates, new regulations and safety requirements are included in this course.

HAZARD COMMUNICATION 2-HOUR COURSE
This course satisfies OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (Worker Right-to-Know). A conference with the company's environmental manager and a copy of MSDS's specific to the company's uses are required prior to the training class. Toxicology, spill control techniques and a brief overview of Personal Protective Equipment will be covered.

SENATE BILL 198 (Injury and Illness Prevention Program)
This course is designed around job descriptions of the students. Time is spent discussing general safety, slips and falls, ergonomics, etc., but time is also spent discussing specific job tasks and potential physical or chemical hazards to the students.

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION COURSES
These courses are required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) for all employees who handle hazardous materials for transportation. This 8-hour course includes four examinations which, upon successful completion, entitles the students to a certificate and a wallet card certifying that he or she has completed the requirements of 49 CFR Sections 172-177, HMTA 126F, 181 and 215A.
Required by 49 CFR 172-177 for employees of companies that package, handle or transport hazardous materials.
Many states also require drivers of hazardous materials to complete a special hazmat exam and obtain a certification on their driver's licenses.

Seldner Environmental DOT courses cover the following:
- Awareness and Familiarization
- Safety
- Function Specific
- Driver Training
These are classroom instructions and do not cover on the road training for the driver.
